Newcastle United have made a very strong start to the Championship season, performing exactly as everybody expected them to after their big money arrivals.

As is often a feature of every successful team, Newcastle have a great mix of experience and youth in their team.

Youth players such as Adam Armstrong and Rolando Aarons have seen success in the last few years, but there are a few players who haven't quite made it as of yet.

If similar players who are currently impressing in the youth system continue to develop their skills as players then they could find themselves increasing their value in the process.

Throughout the following pages, FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe will identify THREE Newcastle wonderkids who could be worth big money in 5 years...

Sean Longstaff

One player at Newcastle who could have a big future at the club is midfielder Sean Longstaff.

The 18-year-old has been in fine form for the Newcastle youth team, scoring 3 goals from the centre of midfield and assisting another 3 in just 7 matches.

His goalscroing record this campaign is not a fluke as he managed to hit over double figures for the youth and reserve sides in the 2014/15 season.

The midfielder, who was subject of a bid from Dundee United earlier in the year, seems to have a lot of potential and if he carries on the way he is going then he could find himself getting closer to making a first professional appearance.

Macaulay Gillesphey

One man who is already impressing in professional football is centre back Macaulay Gillesphey.

The 20-year-old defender is currently out on loan at Carlisle United for the second season running where he has made a big impression on the home crowd.

Ideally at his age he would have liked to be playing at a higher level than League Two, but he is certainly gaining a lot of experience in a very competitive division which can only serve him well for the future.

Freddie Woodman

19-year-old goalkeeper Freddie Woodman can count himself very unlucky to have such stiff competition at Newcastle United.

However, the experience and talent of his fellow goalkeepers will no doubt assist his development and help him to grow as a player.

The goalkeeper will perhaps be hoping to earn a loan move away from St. James’ Park in the upcoming window in order to gain some experience in the professional game.
