The Christmas period is a busy one for one and all in the English Football League, and it is proving to be no different for Ipswich Town.

Paul Lambert has come in to replace Paul Hurst who was appointed in the summer, but after a poor run of results to start the campaign off was dismissed.

Lambert has moved quickly to try and improve things on and off the pitch and implement things he feels will better their fortunes in the second half of the campaign.

It couldn’t have been any worse for the Tractor Boys, and one method to change their fortunes would be to change the playing personnel in the new year.

There were many signings this summer for Town, and some have not worked out as well as many of the club’s fans would have liked.

Recruitment in the January transfer window will be key, and getting the right personnel in could change Ipswich’s fortunes for the better.

With that said, these THREE Ipswich signings next week would be the perfect gift for Lambert at Portman Road...

The 30-year-old is out of favour at Middlesbrough and could be the perfect addition to Paul Lambert’s side in the New Year.

Rudy Gestede is strong in the air and is a tall, powerful attacker, and considering how Ipswich play, he could be the perfect outlet when things get tough on the pitch.

If given a run in the side he could prove the difference at Portman Road and move Ipswich up the table.

Kicking his heels at Norwich City, Ben Marshall could well benefit from a loan move to Ipswich Town.

Making the short commute between the two clubs, the 27-year-old would undoubtedly improve Paul Lambert’s side.

Impressive in a six-month loan at Millwall last season, scoring thrice and registering six assists, he had a hand in the Lions finishing eighth.

Finding that form could be the catalyst to saving the club’s season.

Ipswich could find themselves in a position they were in 12 months ago.

Cameron Carter-Vickers was rarely playing on loan at Sheffield United before Tottenham Hotspur recalled him and sent him out to Portman Road where he would play 17 times.

This season, the same can be said for the defender, but the team in question is Swansea City.

If the 20-year-old heads back to North London, then a move to Ipswich would be welcomed by many and boost Paul Lambert’s options at the back heading into the second half of the campaign.
