Fulham are looking for vast improvements after the disappointments of last season, which almost saw them relegated from the Championship.

The strength of their squad seemed immense especially up front with strike duo Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele scoring 40 goals between them.

These goals just kept them up instead of spearheading a promotion challenge due to their awful defence which conceded 79 goals.

They have already begun strengthening for next season adding Hull attacker Sone Aluko and crucially adding talented Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas, who has Championship experience at Middlesbrough.

They lost star striker Dembele to Celtic and look set to lose McCormack to the Premier League, it would be a big blow considering only those two plus Tom Cairney performed last season.

Fulham fans won't be blamed for casting their mind back to when they were in the Premier League, how they would love to have some of the players they used to nowadays.

Here are THREE former Fulham players that would fit seamlessly into the Fulham side now....

Mousa Dembele

Of course an unlikely move, but what Fulham fans would do to have this star back at Craven Cottage....

The Belgian midfielder has been outstanding for Tottenham since joining from Fulham in 2012.

He especially impressed last season with 3 goals in 29 games and plenty of attacking play as Tottenham narrowly missed out on the title, with Dembele getting the credit he deserves.

His dribbling and physicality has been excellent for Tottenham added to his improving passing and vision turning him into a more complete midfielder.

He is crucial in the middle of the park for Tottenham just like he was for Fulham when they were in the Premier League.

Dembele has made his breakthrough in the Belgium national side and as one of the best midfielders in the Championship a move back to Fulham is unlikely, but he would undoubtedly slot right back into the side.

David Stockdale

Another major problem with Fulham last season was their inability to nail down the Number 1 spot going through numerous goalkeepers.

Marcus Bettinelli suffered with injury but when he came back he was criticised by fans for a lack of consistency, whilst Joe Lewis was given few chances.

Lonergan was there main goalkeeper for last season but was sold to Wolves in the summer, they must really regret letting David Stockdale go who is now number one for Brighton.

His excellent form helped Brighton finish 3rd last season as they narrowly missed out on promotion.

They only conceded 42 goals and Stockdale pulled off some stunning saves, Fulham could really do with someone that solid now.

Chris Smalling

Again a transfer that wouldn't happen - but imagine Smalling at the back for Fulham now...

The Manchester United defender has had quite the journey from non-league Maidstone to regular Manchester United and England defender.

But between those 2 points he was at Fulham in the Premier League where he got his first taste of Premier League action.

Fulham's defence was the major problem for them last season conceding 79 goals with performances from Dan Burn and Richard Stearman very disappointing.

Fulham need some leadership at the back and Smalling would definitely provide that alongside excellent aerial ability.
