With Sheffield United set to embark on a 6th season in League One, new manager Chris Wilder will be keen to guide his boyhood club back to the Championship.

Last season was a grim affair down at Bramall Lane, with manager Nigel Adkins failing miserably with tactics, signings, and results, and fans turning against the players for the first time in many years.

A lot of those players have now gone, as well as manager Adkins, and Blades fans are starting to get some optimism back with Wilder making all the right noises in the press.

However, there can be no denying the squad needs strengthening, and one area Wilder will be keen to address is his striking options. Billy Sharp, Che Adams and Marc McNulty will be good options, but there is always room for more.

Here, FLW writer Lee Connor identifies THREE Championship strikers who would be ideal for Sheffield United...

Lee Erwin

Erwin joined Leeds with a high expectancy that he would be the man to score the goals to fire them closer to a play off place.

However, things have not yet quite panned out too well for the former Motherwell man, but a move to League One might be something he could consider.

Erwin has ability, as he showed up in Scotland, and a move to the Blades and the chance to play under  a motivational manager like Wilder could be an excellent opportunity for him.

Adam Le Fondre

The Blades might already be blessed in the small diminutive striker department, but if the opportunity to sign someone like Le Fondre came up, they should take it.

'ALF' is a proven goalscorer at lower league levels, and spells with Reading, Cardiff, and Rotherham have all had successful spells within them.

Le Fondre though fell out of favour last season and a loan move to Wolves did not really pay off. He could well be set for another move this summer, and Sheffield United would be the ideal place for him to get his career back on track.

Aaron Wilbraham

The Bristol City striker would be an excellent addition to any squad in League One, and he would fit brilliantly into the set-up at Bramall Lane.

Wilbraham was instrumental as the Robins romped to the League One title two seasons ago, and he would be just the foil to play alongside Billy Sharp and Che Adams.

Big, good in the air, and with plenty of experience, Blades fans would be delighted should Chris Wilder manage to sign a player like Wilbraham.
