With Norwich City succumbing to relegation from the Premier League at the first attempt last season, manager Alex Neil will be keen to get the club straight back up as soon as possible.

It will not be an easy task, with Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Sheffield Wednesday among those expected to challenge, and Neil will need to make sure his squad on top of their game.

Key to this will be recruitment and who the Scot sees as additions to his team over the summer, especially in the striking department.

Neil allowed Gary Hooper to leave last season as well as Lewis Grabban going back to Bournemouth, and in Mbokani and Cameron Jerome, their simply wasn't enough firepower to keep them up.

The Scot will have funds available, meaning he can scour the league and possibly take his pick of some of the best talent in the Championship.

With this in mind, here are THREE Championship strikers who would be ideal for Norwich City...

Daryl Murphy

The Irishman was not quite as impressive for Ipswich last season as he was the year before, failing to hit the heights which saw him break the 20 goal mark for the Tractor Boys.

It would be a controversial move indeed for Murphy to move from Ipswich to local rivals Norwich, but stranger things have happened, and in football, money often talks.

Murphy played his part in Ireland's campaign in Euro 2016, meaning he might well be on the radar of a few clubs given his performances. Norwich could do a lot worse than to swoop for their local rivals star man.

Ross McCormack

If we are talking about Norwich going for the best available in the league, then McCormack is your man.

He will most definitely not come cheap, with Fulham wanting to get at least the £11m back they paid for him. After losing Moussa Dembele also, the Cottagers will probably be even more reluctant to sell.

McCormack will guarantee the goals for Norwich is Alex Neil could sign his fellow Scot. If Norwich could pull this one off, then they would put themselves in with an extremely good chance of getting straight back to the Premier League.

Joe Garner

Joe Garner

A manager like Alex Neil demands passion and commitment from his players as a bare minimum, and in Joe Garner, that is exactly what you get.

Garner didn't really have the desired impact for Preston last season as injuries and lack of form took its toll, but there is no doubting the quality of him when he is on his game.

Garner would bring some fire and passion to the cause at Carrow Road for sure, and would no doubt come cheaper than the likes of McCormack. He might not be everyone's most obvious choice, but for Norwich, he could be just what they need.
