Bristol City fans will be content and relieved after last season’s 18th placed finish, but will be hoping to press onwards next year…

The Robins flew up from League One having won the division fairly comfortably, and were expected to continue there good form and stay up during their return to the Championship.

Things didn’t run nearly as smoothly as expected, and Steve Cotterill was ditched as a managerial casualty in January, to be replaced with then Barnsley boss Lee Johnson.

Johnson very quickly sorted things out at Ashton Gate and turned their fortunes around, making a few impressive signings on the way like Peter Odemwingie and Lee Tomlin who joined on loan from Stoke and Bournemouth respectively.

It is obvious that Bristol have money to spend, after offering £9 million and £10 million respectively for strikers Andre Gray and Dwight Gayle last summer, and will hope to bring in another goalscorer to accompany Jonathan Kodjia this yeah.
