Cardiff City came very close to achieving a place in the top six last season, and the Bluebirds’ fans will be hoping that they can build on their 8th place finish last season.

It is not going to be easy to succeed next season as it looks like the season will be a very well-fought contest, with high-quality players joining the league.

New manager, Paul Trollope, has strengthened the ranks over the summer transfer window including two European forwards joining the squad.

The summer recruits have left a few players further down the pecking order than they will like and there are a few players at the club that could do with joining a new club, mainly for the good of their careers.

FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe has identified THREE of their players who could benefit from deciding to join a new club…..

Simon Moore

Cardiff City have one of the most experienced and high-profile goalkeepers in the Championship with 31-year-old David Marshall.

His expertise have meant that Simon Moore has been playing second fiddle to the Scottish international since joining the club in 2013.

The former Brentford 'keeper, who hasn't played more than five league games in a row for the Bluebirds, may decide to look elsewhere in order to find first-team football.

He has more experience in League One than any other league so he may have to drop down a division to play week in, week out but he could arguably still play weekly in the Championship.

Adam Le Fondre

As a 29-year-old, striker Adam Le Fondre has a lot of experience in the game with appearances in all 4 divisions, including a 12 goal season in the Premier League.

However, for whatever reason, he has never really hit the ground running at the Cardiff City Stadium with just 3 goals for the Bluebirds.

Due to his previous lethality in front of goal, he will no doubt be wanted by many clubs, especially after manager Paul Trollope has said that the striker is free to leave.

Federico Macheda

As well as Le Fondre, Federico Macheda has also been told that he can leave the South Wales side if the offer was right.

The Italian striker featured 36 times for Premier League giants Manchester United, including 7 appearances in the Champions League.

Despite scoring a respectable 8 goals in the 2014/15 season, he didn’t manage to find the net at all last season, including his time on loan at Nottingham Forest.

The 24-year-old will be hoping that he can get himself back to top form if he does manage to find himself a new side.
