It is getting tense in the race for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship, with Cardiff City holding their nerve as a Premier League return edges closer.

Neil Warnock’s side have done remarkably well so far this season, with Cardiff surprising most in the Championship by staging an unpredictable push for promotion.

With seven fixtures remaining for the Bluebirds, Warnock has led his side to second in the Championship table.

Cardiff trail Wolverhampton Wanderers by just six points, but more importantly there is a five-point gap between them and third ahead of the run-in.

Warnock’s side hold a game in hand over those around them in the table, leaving them in firm control of the promotion race, with second spot now expected in the Welsh capital.

Here at FLW, we take a look at Warnock’s squad and identify THREE players’ careers who are hanging by a thread, particularly if promotion is achieved…

Peltier has done well under Warnock at Cardiff, with the defender producing some improved performances for the Bluebirds.

However, you have to question whether Peltier is now good enough for another chance in the Premier League.

It’ll be one of many decisions facing Warnock if he guides Cardiff to promotion.

Halford is another player who is excellent in the Championship, but might not be a body Warnock wants to take forward with him.

The 33-year-old offers a lot and can play in numerous positions, however, if Cardiff want to push on next season, the quality of player within Warnock’s squad will have to improve.

Madine might’ve only arrived in Cardiff during the January transfer window, but like Peltier, is he good enough for the Premier League?

Kenneth Zohore deserves a shot at the top-flight given his form over the course of the season, but Cardiff will need another striker if they are promoted.

If Warnock delivers the promotion he is expected to, Madine could be sacrificed.
