Cardiff City have had a rather timid start to their Championship campaign picking up just five points in their opening five results.

They are a side capable of competing for the top six after just falling short last year, but the trip to Carrow Road this weekend to face Norwich City will really indicate what their intentions are for the season.

The squad have brought in some talent over the summer with the likes of Rickie Lambert, Emyr Huws and Jazz Richards that will significantly bolster the side.

However, there are still many players in the side that are significantly overburdened from their glory years and are not performing to the level of expectation for the Bluebirds manager, Paul Trollope.

It is time for the big players to step up this season, and those that have sat on the fence over the last few years need to start showing off their talent.

Stuart O’Keefe

The central midfielder has been applauded for turning his career around at the half way point of last season, but his performances were very much over-hyped by the media.

I attended several games at the half way point of last season and O’Keefe was very average and plays a simple passing game.

From my perspective, he would not be missed if he was to leave the Welsh capital.

Craig Noone

Many of the Bluebirds fans are a big admirer of the winger, and during Cardiff City’s spell in the Premier League, he turned full backs inside-out on a regular occurrence.

However, in recent years he has become predictable and has not proved to be as effective as before.

Noone can still have a bright future at Cardiff City, but he will need to step up his game and to be the stand-out performer once again.

Kadeem Harris

Even though Harris has recently broken into the side, his move to the Cardiff City Stadium was overburdened with excitement that the winger could be the next big player.

His performances have not matched the fan’s aspirations and it has taken time for him to really get noticed by the Bluebirds supporters.

Harris has spent time on loan elsewhere during his Bluebirds career, but it is time for him to step up and prove what a great player he could be.
