It is an exciting time to be a Bristol City fan as Lee Johnson begins to build a squad, which he hopes will be competing at the top of the Championship rather than their typical lower-half finishes.

The dynamic young manager achieved his targets last season by keeping the Robins afloat but will look to push on next season.

There is plenty of buzz, anticipation and optimism surrounding Bristol City's hopes next yea,r as they prepare to fight for a play-off spot and potentially even a spot in the Premier League for the first time in the club's history.

In Johnson's first transfer window, he is already recruiting well with the likes of Gary O'Neil, Josh Brownhill, Lee Tomlin, Callum O'Dowda and Hordur Magnusson already arriving at Ashton Gate.

The board are ready to invest more cash into bolstering the squad which means that certain players will be scrapping for their future with Bristol City.

Here are THREE players who are in jeopardy of being axed by Bristol City...

Frank Fielding

Frank Fielding has been a regular for Bristol City over the past three seasons but lost his place to Richard O'Donnell last year, when he got injured.

With Lee Johnson reportedly interested in adding another goalkeeper to the ranks, it probably means that one of Fielding and O'Donnell could be set for the exit door.

Seen as O'Donnell has only recently arrived and was used as first choice 'keeper last year.

Fielding has played 83 times for Bristol City, but the 28-year-old has his work cut out to retain his place between the sticks for the Championship club.

Kieran Agard

Kieran Agard's future at Bristol City could be in doubt with news that Lee Johnson is in the market for another striker.

Agard is already behind Jonathan Kodjia in the pecking order and has been mainly limited to playing on the wing for Bristol City.

He was mainly utilised as an impact substitute despite being a regular starter at Ashton Gate in their League One campaign. Johnson has revealed that Agard will be given a chance in pre-season to prove himself but he will need to really impress to regain a first team spot.

The 26-year-old could find himself playing football at another club by the end of this window.

Aaron Wilbraham

Bristol City fans fondly admire Aaron Wilbraham but it needs to be accepted that he is nearing the end of his career, and he wasn't the same player that he once was.

The 36-year-old joined Bristol City in 2014 and has scored 24 goals in 63 games for the Robins.

But last season he was used instead as a bit-part player and impact substitute as Jonathan Kodjia was preferred up top.

The veteran target man could fall even further down the pecking order too if Lee Johnson signs another striker.

Perhaps it is time that Bristol City part ways with their beloved "Wilbrahimovic" as they look to progress.
