The past five years have been a period of doom and gloom for Birmingham fans with the team treading water in the Championship, after their relegation from the Premier League at the end of the 2010/11 season as the threat of administration has cast a dark cloud over the club.

Gary Rowett's arrival as manager has seen a shift in mood with the supporters.

Blues fans now believe that the club is heading in the right direction and even though the financial side of the club could be in a better position, there is not an immediate threat to the club's existence as there has been in previous years.

It would not be too optimistic to suggest that the future is starting to look a little brighter for Birmingham on the pitch, and that has been helped with the emergence of some talented youngsters at St Andrew's.

Here, Football League World writer Steve Day picks his THREE wonderkids currently at Birmingham that he feels will be worth huge money over the next five years.....

Che Adams

It is hard to believe that it was only a few seasons ago that 20-year-old starlet Adams was playing non-league football for Oadby Town, but here he is now making a name for himself in the second tier of English football.

Adams earned a reputation for scoring goals during his two seasons with Sheffield United in League One.

Despite failing to score a league goal during the 2014/15 campaign, he bagged 11 league goals the following season as he won plaudits for his dazzling performances that were mature beyond his years.

Rowett wasted no time in snapping up the England Under-20 international as he looked to add more fire power to his ranks.

Adams has already netted a couple of times this season for the Blues as he is being eased into the first team fold, and there is already talk that his future will eventually lie in the Premier League with or without Birmingham.

Reece Brown

Brown has long been considered one of the top youth prospects at Birmingham and at 20-years- old, he is now finally beginning to fulfil his potential with the club he has been with since 2006 when he was just 10 years old.

The talented midfielder has long been a part of the England youth set-up having earned caps at England Under-16, England Under-17, England Under-18, and England Under-20 levels, with a string of impressive performances at those levels.

He has only made a total of 16 appearances for the Blues over the years but after signing an extension to his contract earlier this year there is a clear desire by both Brown, and the club to see him progress his career with the club.

It is only a matter of time before he becomes a key player at Championship level.

Jack Storer

Forward Jack Storer began his youth career with Birmingham but made the controversial move to Wolves in an effort to further his career.

Things didn't work out for the 18-year-old and he has eventually come full circle back to his boyhood club.

A short spell with Stevenage in League One last season gave Storer a taste of league football, but he was given his first opportunity of league action for Birmingham back in August of this year, after re-joining the club when he made his debut for the Blues away to Cardiff City in the opening game of the season.

Storer's stunning pre-season form that saw him score 7 goals in friendly matches saw him earn a contract extension until 2018.

He is being tipped for big things now he is back settled with the club he spent a number of his youth playing days at.

This season could be the one where Storer becomes a name with which every fan in the Championship is familiar.
