The Rowett revolution continued in earnest at St Andrews with Gary Rowett transforming them from the side battling relegation last season, to genuine promotion contenders.

The defence has been reformed and fixed over the last couple of seasons, with Michael Morrison solid at the back with his partner under dispute for the coming season, with Paul Robinson and Ryan Shotton options.

Caddis is the big inspiration at right-back, one of their most consistent performers but they will need to add some depth.

Their biggest folly last season was a lack of depth in attack with Clayton Donaldson their lone striker.

Creativity from midfield was lacking as well with David Cotterill struggling to match his previous seasons form whilst new striker Diego Fabbrini struggled to get going.

Jon Toral was a very bright spark on loan from Arsenal and won Player of the Year but he is unlikely to be there next season.

If Birmingham are to challenge for top six next season they need their big players to step up, so here are THREE Birmingham players that will dictate Birmingham's fortunes next year.......

Michael Morrison

One of the most crucial players to the Rowett revolution without a doubt is Michael Morrison.

When Rowett came in last season Lee Clarke had just left after an embarrassing 8-0 home defeat to Bournemouth with their defence a shambles.

Morrison was loaned in from Charlton and formed an excellent partnership with Paul Robinson which was solid and crucial to fixing Birmingham's season.

He became a favourite with the fans and joined on a permanent basis and has played every game this season forming a great partnership, with either Paul Robinson or Ryan Shotton.

He was their Player of the Year last season and crucial to Rowett's revolution as the heart of the defence.

Paul Caddis

The defender is very passionate and another very important player for Rowett at Birmingham.

He slowly usurped Neil Eardley at right-back and has been a regular over the last three seasons making well over 100 appearances.

Caddis scored the most important goal in Birmingham's recent history scoring a last minute goal against Bolton, and without it the Rowett revolution would have never started.

One of the best right-backs in the league, his crossing was superb last season, making the third most crosses in the league and his contribution will be important next season.

Clayton Donaldson

Birmingham's lone striker and will once again be their most important player next season as their main goal scorer.

He scored 11 last season making him the top goal scorer and focal point for their attacks and Birmingham will need him scoring more.

Rowett is likely to add to the squad like he did last season bringing in James Vaughan and Kyle Lafferty along with the permanent signing of Fabbrini.

With Vaughan signing on a permanent, Birmingham have options up front but without a doubt, Donaldson will be their most important player again.
