Birmingham City are a side that have been tipped to mingle with the chasing pack this season.

Gary Rowett's side kept pace for most of the campaign last season before dropping off post February, and whilst expectations aren't hugely high at St Andrews, supporters would love a play-off push.

It's common knowledge that the Blues don't have the spending power of some of their opponents and whilst the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United have truly splashed the cash, Birmingham have spent a modest amount.

Players like Ryan Shotton, Robert Tesche, Greg Stewart and Che Adams have all come through the St Andrews door and they will be the ones that have the potential to take the Blues up the league this season.

But in this Birmingham squad, are there any individuals that perhaps don't get the credit they deserve? Players that chip away without getting the headlines their colleagues do?

We think there are, so with that in mind, here's 3 Birmingham City players who extremely underrated in their current squad...

David Davis

Birmingham City midfielder David Davis was somewhat on the fringes of Gary Rowett's squad last season but this campaign, he's been a massive player in the middle of the park for the Blues.

The former Wolves man does a fantastic job anchoring the midfield and his no-nonsense aggressive approach seems to endear himself to the supporters at St Andrews.

He's been given the berth to go forward a little more this season too and it's paying dividend - he scored in their 3-0 crushing of Norwich last week.

Reece Brown

Winger Reece Brown seemed to settle his difference with the Blues hierarchy after a turbulent spell last season, which saw him banished to the reserves.

After the departure of Demarai Gray in January, ask any Birmingham supporter who the next rising star is, most of them will say Brown, who has had trials with the likes of West Ham United.

Discipline seems to have been sorted but he's still yet to make an appearance for the first-team side this season. He's got massive potential and just needs a chance to show supporters what he can do.

Ryan Shotton

Shotton

Captain Michael Morrison is often regarded as the leader of the side, commandeering the team from the heart of the defence.

But his partner and summer signing Ryan Shotton hasn't done badly at all, and we feel he deserves more credit than he actually gets.

Known for his long throw-in during his Stoke City days, the defender has shown his defensive credentials and has been pretty solid so far this campaign.

He's vocal on the pitch too and you'll know about it if he's not happy with something you are, or aren't doing.
