Barnsley pulled off an excellent turnaround last season going from bottom of the table at Christmas to play-off glory in May.

They started the season with Lee Johnson in charge and after losing 8 games in a row found themselves struggling after only winning 6 games all season at Christmas.

But under Lee Johnson they won 8 games in a row in the New Year and Johnson jumped ship to become manager of Bristol City.

Academy coach Paul Heckingbottom was placed in charge and the form of the team didn't stall, only losing 3 more games all season and with an impressive 4-1 at Champions Wigan, they earned a play-off place.

After beating Walsall in the semi-final they outplayed Millwall in the final, with a 3-1 win and Heckingbottom was given a permanent contract.

The key players were top scorer Sam Winnall along with key midfielders Conor Hourihane and Adam Hammill.

Here are THREE Barnsley players they must sell this summer.....

Ryan Williams

The Australian winger put in some good performances for Oxford a couple of seasons ago and was loaned to Barnsley in the 2014/15 season, but only appeared 5 times due to a groin injury.

He was signed on a permanent basis for the 15/16 season but once again has only appeared a handful of times, with other players favoured to him on the wing.

Other wingers like Lloyd Isgrove, Adam Hammill and the signing of George Moncur will damage his position as well.

Having represented Australia at youth level he is very talented, but a step up to the Championship for him may be too soon.

Shaun Tuton

The 24-year-old was dubbed the new Jamie Vardy when he was scoring goals for Halifax, and earned a move to Barnsley in February.

But he only played twice with Heckingbottom clearly not a fan, with Winnall often played up front alongside loan strikers Ashley Fletcher and Ivan Toney.

Even though they have left, Barnsley have already begun strengthening up front with the signing of young Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw who scored a hatful of League 1 goals last season.

With more expected to come in, Tuton will be behind Winnall and Bradshaw, and to realise his potential he should move away.

Lewin Nyatanga

The 27- year-old Welshman only played 25 times last season mostly playing fiddle to Marc Roberts and Alfie Mawson.

Mawson is a 22-year- old centre back who has developed excellently at Barnsley, and has made nearly 50 appearances and his performances have helped them to promotion.
