After their brilliant victory in the League One play-off final, Barnsley will now be looking to consolidate themselves as a Championship team for the considerable future.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom has been keen to bring in new signings to help them do this, and has already secured a number of new signings this summer to help them do this.

The likes of Adam Hammill and George Moncur will add creativity and flair to the Tykes next season, and with the addition of Tom Bradshaw, Barnsley will surely score plentiful goals.

It is of course, going to be incredibly tough for the Yorkshire side next season, especially with the likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Norwich City in the league.

This article takes a look at THREE players already at the club who could surprise a lot of people next season...

George Moncur

Moncur is a new signing at Oakwell after signing from Colchester.

Moncur has excelled in the past few years playing for Colchester in League One, which has led to him attracting a lot of attention from numerous Championship clubs and following Colchester's relegation to League Two, Barnsley snapped him up.

The former West Ham trainee scored 14 goals in 51 games for the U's last season, and will be looking to prove to everyone that he is capable of making the step up into the second tier of English football.

Moncur has also previously enjoyed loan spells with AFC Wimbledon and Scottish club Partick Thistle.

Josh Scowen

Another player who may shock one or two next season is versatile midfielder Josh Scowen.

Scowen played a staring role in Barnsley's promotion campaign last season, and was deployed in both central midfield and right back.

The 23-year-old joined Barnsley on the 15th January 2015 and has gone onto make 39 appearances, scoring 8 goals for the Tykes.

Scowen previously played for Wycombe Wanderers where he made 91 appearances scoring 3 goals in a four year spell.

Having spent all his footballing career in League One and Two, Scowen will be keen to prove to any doubters that he is more than capable of excelling at that level.

Scowen is a tenacious, tough tackling ball winning midfielder and with traits like these he can be confident that he will be a success in the Championship.

Elliot Lee

The final player who I think will make a big impression in the Championship this year is Elliot Lee, who is another new signing at Oakwell this summer having signed from West Ham.

At the age of 21, Lee has enjoyed numerous loan spells at clubs such as Colchester, Southend, Luton and Blackpool, he has made a total of 40 senior appearances scoring 7 goals.

He is seen as having a great deal of potential and as a future 20+ goal a season man.

Lee possess great pace, technical ability and a keen poachers instinct, some would call him a "Fox in the box".

Lee may be seen as one for the future but if given the first team opportunities in the forthcoming campaign, then this man has the talent to surprise one or two who may think he is not quite up to the standard of Championship football just yet.

Elliot is the son of former England international Rob Lee.
