Aston Villa's fans will likely be hoping to see wholesale changes this summer, after another season of disappointment looks to be on the cards.

It would take a miracle for the Villans to reach the top six now and Dean Smith will be hoping for time to mould a side into the image of his former Brentford team.

They were a free-flowing, attacking side who created chances for fun at one point this season. sadly, even with Tammy Abraham in his squad, he's been unable to replicate that with Villa.

They'll be hoping for a fresh impetus this summer, a set of new players likely to shake up the existing squad and add value and ability. That'll mean many going out of the door, with no fewer than nine player out of contract.

Whilst a majority will likely leave, we've picked three we feel should be given another chance by Dean Smith...

[snack_break title="Mile Jedinak"]

Jedinak might be aging now, but he's going to be a good figure around the ground with his experience.

He's not in the first team picture on a regular basis, but he's reliable and committed and would be a wise choice for a year extension to help their promotion push next season.

[snack_break title="Tommy Elphick"]

Elphick was another who had time out on loan, but who is proving his worth right now.

He dropped out of favour under Steve Bruce, but proved during his spell at Hull he's a quality centre back.

He should be kept at the club next season.

[snack_break title="Jed Steer"]

Steer might not be a first team keeper, but Villa would be wise to retain his services.

Even if it meant another loan, he's a great back up who can be recalled if needed.

He impressed at Charlton and would be a vital member of the squad.
