It seems like it's been an age since Leeds United experienced top-flight football, and with every passing season, the golden land of the Premier League seems to slip further and further away.

Once upon a time, the Leeds squad was littered with household names, but as the Premier League sinks further into the distance, the quality of the players arriving at Elland Road has slowly decreased.

One of the must-haves in a squad looking to fight for promotion or even the top 6 is a top quality goalscorer, who you can rely on to bail you out if goals from other areas of the pitch are drying up.

Look at the current top 6 for example. Huddersfield have the ever-reliable Nakhi Wells, whilst Newcastle have a variety of top quality options up top including Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez. Norwich striker Cameron Jerome is proven at Championship level.

Anthony Knockaert scores goals for fun from wide positions for Brighton, and Tammy Abraham of Bristol City is the league's top scorer. Birmingham are perhaps the biggest anomaly, but even then Clayton Donaldson is a capable striker.

Here are the worst THREE Leeds United frontmen of the last 10 years........

Ian Thomas-Moore

The former Tranmere striker was the owner of one of the worst goals to game ratios in Championship history.

After signing from Burnley in 2005, Leeds fans hoped that he could push on and fulfil his potential from earlier in his career - potential which saw him capped for England's under-21 squad.

After 2 goals in 59 games (that's nearly a goal every 30 games) he was released from his contract in 2007.

Enoch Showunmi

After 27 goals in 7 years prior to joining Leeds United, it's easy to see in hindsight that the 6 foot 5 inch tall target man's spell at Elland Road was destined to fail.

He joined Leeds in 2008 from Bristol City, after spending 10 games on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and scoring 0 goals.

Hardly scintillating form.

In 3 years he made only 15 appearances and scored on just 2 occasions. He's now playing in the depths of non-league football for Canvey Island FC.

Souleymane Doukara

The French striker has bags of pace, but continues to spurn good chances in front of goal for the Whites.

Doukara has made 50 appearances, but has only netted 8 times, and has only scored 38 times in a career that has spanned 196 games, most of which came in the second tiers of Europe's leading nations.

Most Leeds fans would happily pay for his ticket if they had the chance to ship on the former Juve Stalia striker.
