It's hard to associate Blackburn Rovers of now to the one that won the Premier League back in the 1994-95 season.

In 22nd place in the second division ahead of the international break, their squad looks depleted following the high profile departures of Rudy Gestede, Jordan Rhodes, Grant Hanley and Shane Duffy in the last few years.

They've let their star players go and not replaced them.

The man tasked with bringing them out of all this is Owen Coyle, who many Rovers fans think shouldn't have been appointed.

Ten years ago, Blackburn were a solid, mid-table Premier League club, perhaps even with ambitions of pushing into Europe.

Disaster struck and they slipped down the league until the 2011-12 season, when they dropped out of the top flight all together.

17th, 8th, 9th and 15th place positions in the second tier have followed, but anywhere outside of the bottom three come May will be a success for Coyle and his men.

Here, FLW's Ryan Evans takes a look at the THREE worst Blackburn strikers over the last ten years.....

Simeon Jackson

When the experienced Canadian international signed in January, it was hoped that he'd be able to get goals back into the team, having lost Rudy Gestede the previous summer and with the impending departure of Jordan Rhodes. However, it didn't turn out that way, as he managed just two goals in 19 matches in the four months he was at Ewood Park.

He only missed four matches in the Championship, so can't complain about lack of game time. However, the 29-year old has gone on to Walsall now, and appears to have found his level, scoring five in the opening eleven league games.

Luke Varney

The now 34-year-old joined Rovers initially on loan in February 2014, but signed permanently that summer after being released by parent club Leeds.

He was given plenty of minutes, but failed to score in his 12 games that season.

In the next campaign, he was utilised mainly as a substitute, but failed to make an impact as he yet again failed to score before moving to East Anglia.

All in all, he didn't score a goal in his 26 appearances at Ewood Park.

His Blackburn career ended 12 months after joining, moving on loan to Ipswich.

El-Hadji Diouf

Diouf joined the Lancashire based side in January 2009 from Sunderland, with the club in 14th place in the Premier League.

He scored a single goal before the end of that season, and in the 2009-10 campaign he bagged another three and two assists.

In his next season he failed to score before being shipped out on loan to Rangers, and fell out with manager Steve Kean ahead of their doomed 2011-12 campaign which saw them relegated to the Championship.

It was the manner of his departure that annoyed many Rovers fans, they needed a striker that would come up with goals but Diouf jumped ship.
