Norwich City have spent the past five years bouncing up and down between the Premier League, and the Championship without establishing a permanent spot in either.

They always seem too good for the second tier when they drop, as is being evidenced at the moment with the Canaries sitting gleefully in second place and on a good run of form.

However this is contrasted by their struggles to stay in the Premier League.

After it seemed as if they were finally starting to seal a regular spot in the top tier's mid-table with 12th and 11th place finishes in 2012 and 2013 respectively, they succumbed to relegation in the 2013/14 season.

This was met by an immediate re-promotion - albeit via the play-offs - and a subsequent relegation once again the following year.

Norwich will be desperate to shrug off the "yo-yo" club connotations surrounding the club but need to win promotion again first before doing so.

A number of below-par signings have plagued Norwich in recent years and here are THREE of the worst during this time period...

Luciano Becchio

Argentine striker Luciano Becchio joined Norwich on transfer deadline day in January 2013 following a prolific five year spell with Leeds United.

The deal involved Steve Morison going the other way.

Becchio never really got going at Norwich and failed to score in any of his 16 appearances for the club.

The 6'1'' striker was released in the summer of 2015 and is now on trial with League One Coventry City following spells with Belgrano and Rotherham.

Harry Kane

It may seem harsh to include Harry Kane on this list seen as his loan spell at Norwich was part-hampered by an injury and he was recalled but the truth is that he was awful.

At the age of 19, he made five appearances for the Canaries and failed to impress in any.

The memorable moment of his spell was a simple one-on-one miss against West Ham, which you would expect him to bury with his eyes closed now.

The prolific Tottenham and England striker was awful during his spell at Carrow Road and Spurs recalled him four months early before sending him out to Championship side Leicester.

Patrick Bamford would later replicate this sort of torrid loan spell but I've left him out of the list on the basis of Kane not achieving his potential during the spell.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel

What a coup this appeared to be when Norwich beat off competition from some of Europe's big clubs to land Netherlands international Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon.

The 6'1'' striker had been prolific with the Portuguese giants and at FC Utrecht.

And what a start van Wolfswinkel made, scoring the equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Everton on his debut.

This, however, proved to be the only time he ever found the net for the Canaries in 25 league games.

He had loan spells with St. Etienne and Real Betis before Norwich finally managed to offload him permanently this summer to his first club Vitesse.

It was a sigh of relief for both Norwich and van Wolfswinkel following his dire three-year stint with the club.
