Brentford have done some excellent transfer business over the years, fulfilling the plans of chairman Matthew Benham who has a clear plan in place.

Brentford spent well in their first Championship season bringing in Andre Gray, along with Alan Judge, Jota and Moses Odubajo who all proved to be bargains.

Brentford performed excellently in their first Championship season with Gray scoring for fun and being well supported by the midfield of Judge, Jota and Dallas.

Brentford are challenging for the top 6 again and did excellent transfer business bringing in Rico Henry and Romaine Sawyers for bargain fees.

Overall a good model at Brentford but here are the THREE worst signings in the last 5 years.......

Nick Proschwitz

Nick Proschwitz

There was reason to believe the German striker would be a good buy for Brentford when he joined after some good form in Germany for Paderborn and Wolfsburg's 2nd team.

But he struggled to adapt to English football with Hull.

But it was an unsuccessful stint and he was released after lacklustre loan spells at Barnsley and Coventry.

He bagged just 2 goals in 20 games for Brentford and was released after Gray went ahead.

Will Grigg

Will Grigg was certainly not on fire for Brentford during the 13/14 season where they earned promotion from League 1.

Grigg signed after some excellent form for Walsall but struggled to get regular first team football for the Bees.

Whilst Clayton Donaldson and Marcelo Trotta were firing Brentford to promotion, Grigg was struggling with injury and confidence, and managed just 4 goals in 35 appearances.

He was loaned out for the rest of the season and never played again.

Raphael Calvet

Calvet seemed a promising signing for Brentford when he was signed on deadline day in September 2013.

In his first season he made the odd first team appearance but failed to impress and the following season he was out of first team contention and spent most of his time playing for the development squad.

He departed Brentford in 2015 having only played once for them in 2 years.
