The Leeds United glory days seem a distant memory as they continue to struggle for another season in the Championship.

Although, their form is slowly picking up after five wins in their past six games, there seems to be a lack of ambition for the club to push for promotion back to the Premier League.

Since their relegation from the top-flight in 2004, they have only finished deep in the bottom half and spent three seasons in League One before being automatically promoted in 2010.

Leeds United are always quite active in the transfer market, after bringing more than 50 new players through Elland Road's door over the past few seasons.

Although some players have not lived up to expectations, some of their most successful years in the past decade were in League One by bringing in some talented acquisitions for a relatively suitable price.

Football League World Writer, Ashley Williams identifies Leeds’ THREE best bargain signings over the past decade…

Jermaine Beckford

Under the management of Simon Grayson, Beckford enjoyed the best spell of his career in West Yorkshire and was brought to the club for a minimal fee.

Beckford was prolific for the club in the three seasons that he played in League One, scoring 85 goals, the most memorable being the FA Cup winner over Manchester United.

With his reputation soaring, he was snapped up by Premier League side Everton, electing to leave on a free transfer - a galling decision for Leeds, but his talent was not utilised effectively by David Moyes and his career has never been the same since.

Luciano Becchio

In 2008, he joined Leeds on a trial basis and impressed Gary McAllister to sign a three year deal for what seems like pennies compared to transfer prices these days.

It took him just 25 seconds to score against Yeovil Town in his first league start for the Whites that indicated his goalscoring prowess.

Becchio enjoyed four-and-a-half successful years in Leeds, scoring 75 goals in 190 appearances, before joining Norwich City on the January deadline day of 2013.

Robert Snodgrass

Without Leeds, Snodgrass would not be the player he is today after joining the Whites in 2008 from Scottish side Livingston – reportedly for a compensation fee of just £35,000.

Eight years on, his signature for £35,000 looks the deal of the century. He made 168 appearances for the Yorkshire outfit – netting 35 goals in his four years at the club.

He helped Leeds win promotion to the Championship in 2010 and two years later, Snodgrass was appointed captain of Leeds and won the Fans Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards in his final season with the club.

The Scotland international is certainly a player that they could do with right now.
