High-flying Reading are having a fantastic season under manager Jaap Stam.

The Royals currently sit 3rd in the Championship and will be pushing Newcastle United and Brighton for the automatic promotion positions come the end of the season.

Every game carries great importance when the top of the table is so tight and so Stam will be looking for anything that might help his side achieve victory.

One of those may be introducing new or fringe players to the side to see how they can contribute to what has already been a fantastic season for the club so far.

Here are TWO young players that may emerge for Reading during the rest of the season.....

Reece Oxford

Royals fans will surely be pleased with the signing of Reece Oxford who joined on loan from West Ham for the rest of the season.

Reading fought off competition from fellow Championship clubs Nottingham Forest, Brentford as well as Rangers to seal the young defender's signature.

Stam said on Oxford: "He is young, but hungry for success and I am sure he will prove an excellent addition to our squad".

Agreeably, Oxford may be young, but he is without doubt talented and could fit straight into the Reading defence who have conceded 37 goals in the Championship - a high amount compared to the teams around them.

Yakou Meite

Meite has found himself as a fringe player for the season so far, making just 12 appearances all as a substitute.

Of course this is due to the exciting form of fellow forward players but Meite certainly has merits of his own.

The former PSG youth product, 20, is 6ft, strong and quick on the wing and is certainly a fan favourite.

If called upon by Stam, Meite certainly has the qualities to produce and continue the success achieved at Reading so far this season.
