Sunderland will be hoping for the season to resume as soon as possible as they go in hunt of making the play-off places once again in Sky Bet League One.

With the third tier table as tight as it is right now, the Black Cats also have a real chance of still making the top two and if they can go up via that route they'd surely be very happy indeed.

News that the EFL are planning a 56-day period in which to get the season wrapped up will be music to their ears, then, though some players are going to have to prove themselves once the campaign is picked up once more.

Can you get full marks on this Sunderland quiz?

Indeed, a couple of Sunderland players will be eager to finish this season in some kind of form and we've picked a pair that fall into that category upon resumption:

Will Grigg

Grigg's form at Sunderland remains a real mystery and with him continuing to struggle at the club you have to wonder whether a move would be for the best in the summer.

He'll desperately want it to work at Sunderland but so far the goals simply have not flowed. A big few weeks could well await him once the season resumes as he aims to prove a point.

Duncan Watmore

Watmore is a good player when fit, but his injury record is a real issue and it's a real shame to see how his career has gone from potential Premier League player to where he is.

The break in play means he could be back in time for the season run-in but with his contract up in the summer it remains to be seen where his future lies at the moment past the next few months.
