Chris Coleman will be almost settled in at the Stadium of Light, with it perhaps beginning to dawn on the former Welsh manager the size of the task he faces at Sunderland.

Sunderland are facing the possibility of another fight against relegation this season, albeit this year with the possibility of dropping into the third tier of English football.

Heading into this weekend’s fixtures, Sunderland sit 23rd, two points adrift of safety following last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Reading at the Stadium of Light.

The chances are Coleman is already turning towards the January transfer window, which will be his first opportunity to tinker with his playing squad.

Arrivals will be expected at the Stadium of Light as Coleman looks to bolster Sunderland’s chance of survival, but departures could also be on the agenda.

Here at FLW, we take a look at TWO players who need to be asking Coleman for a loan move away from the Stadium of Light in January…

Donald Love

Love arrived at the Stadium of Light from Manchester United in 2016, but has this season found his opportunities limited at the Stadium of Light, failing to make a Championship appearance.

Coleman has included the 23-year-old in his three matchday squads since his appointment, but the defender does look in-need of a temporary move away from the Stadium of Light.

Love should be going in search of regular football during the second-half of the season, as he looks to improve his chances of securing first-team with Sunderland in the future.

Jack Rodwell

The midfielder is not a popular figure at the Stadium of Light, and his time with Sunderland is surely coming to an end.

However, it is highly unlikely that the 26-year-old could secure a permanent move, and he might have to settle for a loan move in January.

For all parties it might be best if Sunderland and Rodwell separate in January, and the midfielder should be knocking Coleman’s door down for a loan move, as he looks to resurrect his career.
