After a successful season in the Championship last time round, Sheffield Wednesday have somewhat disappointed in recent weeks.

Despite their position being outside of the play-offs, their squad is still filled with quality and there are many players in the squad who are very capable of being part of a top team.

As is often the case in a promotion chasing side, the squad also has players who could even make it in the top flight and they will be discussed in this article.

There are players who have been left out of the gallery who could possibly make it in the Premier League such as Fernando Forestieri and Tom Lees who have both impressed many times in the second tier.

But over the next two pages, FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe will identify two of Wednesday's players who could make it in England's top division.

Keiren Westwood

At 32 years of age, Keiren Westwood can count himself unlucky to have never had a thorough crack at England's top division.

Despite playing 33 times in the Premier League for Sunderland, he never quite established himself as the first choice goalkeeper so he dropped back down to the Championship in search of game time.

Ever since his move to Hillsborough he has been a key part of Wednesday's regime and he remains as one of the best goalkeepers in the Football League.

The Republic of Ireland international could arguably be good enough to challenge Premier League goalkeepers to a place in their starting XI and Westwood could end up playing where he perhaps deserves to be.

David Jones

Wednesday midfielder David Jones joined the Owls just this summer and his recent performances, especially in the last month, have been nothing short of top drawer.

The former Burnley midfielder is a classic old-school centre-mid.

He will happily sit in the middle of the park doing all the dirty work and his work rate cannot be questioned.

He has arguably been Wednesday's best player of late and he has shown that at 32 years of age he has still got it.
