With one of the most industrious and productive academy set-ups outside of the Premier League, Sheffield United have a long production line of young starlets for Chris Wilder to call upon.

The academy set up has seen a number of high-profile names come through the ranks over the years, most recently Che Adams and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have moved to the higher divisions to join Birmingham City and Everton respectively.

Having such a productive academy system at his disposal has been extremely useful for Chris Wilder who vowed to give opportunities to Sheffield United's academy graduates when he first took over the managerial duties in the summer.

With Sheffield United's promotion to the Championship already sealed, Chris Wilder may look to use the academy to help strengthen the quality and depth of the squad ahead of the Championship season.

Ben Whiteman

After joining Sheffield United's academy ranks from Manchester United, Ben Whiteman steadily progressed to become one of the standout stars of the South Yorkshire side's youth set-up.

Although Whiteman has featured for Sheffield United's first team in the past, he has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular.

Without a guarantee of first team football at Sheffield United, Chris Wilder allowed the academy graduate to leave on loan to Mansfield Town.

Since joining Mansfield Town, Ben Whiteman has been a revelation as he has helped the League 2 side propel themselves into a healthy position for a play-off place.

Whiteman has furthered his reputation whilst on loan at Mansfield Town as he was nominated for the League 2 player of the month award for January.

With six goals and two assists in seventeen League 2 appearances, Chris Wilder may feel that Ben Whiteman has gained the experience needed to be fast-tracked nearer to the first-team.

David Brooks

As well as Ben Whiteman, 19-year-old midfielder David Brooks has impressed as part of Sheffield United's youth set up after joining from Manchester City.

After emerging from Sheffield United's academy, David Brooks was given the opportunity to gain experience and playing time when he joined National League side Halifax Town on loan.

However, the loan move did not kick start David Brooks career at Sheffield United.

Instead, it was a change in management.

Following the arrival of Chris Wilder, David Brooks caught the eye during Sheffield United's pre-season preparations when he impressed in a friendly against Grimsby Town.

David Brooks went on to make his senior debut for Sheffield United when Wilder started the young starlet in the EFL Trophy fixtures against Leicester City's Under 23 side and Walsall.

After making his debut for the Blades and impressing on a number of occasions, the 19-year-old midfielder is a wonderkid who needs to be fast-tracked nearer to the first-team.
