It has been a season to forget for Reading during 2017/18 and they have fallen foul to a catastrophic case of After the Lord Mayor's show with the Royals narrowly missing out on Premier League football by a single penalty kick back in May.

Huddersfield Town pipped them to the final spot in this season's top flight and prior to a ball being kicked Jaap Stam's team were heavily backed by many pundits to claim promotion.

That hasn't transpired however and the club are currently facing a real fight to ensure that they don't become embroiled in a relegation battle, whilst for Stam he could do with some positive results to make sure he is still in a job come the end of the campaign!

Regardless of who is in charge come the end of the campaign it seems apparent that the club will need to make some changes to their squad during the summer if they are to challenge at the right end of the league next season.

The flying winger has not endured the best of season's in the blue and white of Reading this season and the club could look to offload the ex-Forest man during the summer.

The Jamaican international has played 18 times for the Royals this season but has featured largely as an impact sub, which quite simply hasn't worked out for the 30-year-old.

With McCleary not getting any younger, it seems likely that he needs to leave the club if he holds any hope of playing regular football any time soon.

The versatile defender hasn't exactly set the Championship alight since arriving from Manchester United as a sought-after performer and the club could cut their losses on the player during the summer.

Blackett has failed to repay the faith shown in him by Jaap Stam during the summer and he could be offloaded to make way for a more consistent defensive recruit in the summer.
