In what has been a difficult season for Queens Park Rangers, the arrival of Ian Holloway has provided some stability as the West London side sit in 16th place in the Sky Bet Championship and continue to maintain a fairly reasonable cushion above the drop zone.

One proud achievement that Queens Park Rangers can boast about is the productivity of their academy system which has seen a number of players break through into the first-team setup.

This has been a criticism of QPR in recent years but it looks like their academy system is finally starting to produce some players who are talented enough to make the first team grade.

A combination of a productive academy system and a scouting network on the look out for young talent has seen a number of young stars either promoted into the first team squad or signed by the club.

Ian Holloway's commitment to giving young talented players the opportunity to play on a regular first team basis has been integral for the rise of some Queens Park Rangers young stars.

FLW writer Elliott Wheat-Bowen looks at two Queens Park Rangers young stars who will be worth serious money in the years to come.

Darnell Furlong

Having spent the first two seasons of his senior career on loan at a host of clubs including Northampton Town, Cambridge United and Swindon Town, Darnell Furlong's future at QPR was beginning to look in doubt.

However, the Queens Park Rangers academy graduate was given an opportunity to play for the first team and he has taken it and impressed since returning from Swindon Town.

The 21-year-old full-back has made six Sky Bet Championship starts for QPR this season since returning in January and he has proved to be a reliable and consistent performer for Ian Holloway.

Although Darnell Furlong faces genuine competition from James Perch for a starting place in QPR's side, Furlong has proved this season that he has the talent and ability to play at this level.

If Furlong can continue to develop and improve under Ian Holloway's management, he could be one of the most highly coveted young players in the Football League who will be worth serious money in years to come.

Sean Goss

The German-born midfielder made the surprise switch to Queens Park Rangers from Manchester United in the January transfer window.

After joining Manchester United's academy from Exeter City and steadily climbing through the academy ranks, Goss became a regular member of Manchester United's Under-23 squad.

However, Goss left Manchester United after five years at the club opting to join Queens Park Rangers despite having a number of options.

The central midfielder is richly talented and he has already made his debut for QPR as a second half substitute in the well-earned 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.

If Goss can reach the potential that saw him progress through Manchester United's academy, Queens Park Rangers may have a young star who will be worth serious money in the years to come.
