Having spent the first two seasons of his senior career on loan at a host of clubs including Northampton Town, Cambridge United and Swindon Town, Darnell Furlong’s future at QPR was beginning to look in doubt.
However, the Queens Park Rangers academy graduate was given an opportunity to play for the first team and he has taken it and impressed since returning from Swindon Town.
The 21-year-old full-back has made six Sky Bet Championship starts for QPR this season since returning in January and he has proved to be a reliable and consistent performer for Ian Holloway.
Although Darnell Furlong faces genuine competition from James Perch for a starting place in QPR’s side, Furlong has proved this season that he has the talent and ability to play at this level.
If Furlong can continue to develop and improve under Ian Holloway’s management, he could be one of the most highly coveted young players in the Football League who will be worth serious money in years to come.
