New Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway oversaw a hard fought 2-1 victory over promotion hopefuls Norwich City in his first game and fans are immediately feeling more optimistic than they ever did under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

There is a real sense of renewed hope, that Holloway can build something special at Loftus Road and lead them into a brighter future.

Ian Holloway has been appointed as a part of a long-term project pioneered by Director of Football Les Ferdinand in collaboration with owner Tony Fernandes.

Part of this long term picture is the development of their own young players; something which, by Les Ferdinand's own admission, has been way too rare for a club of such high stature.

QPR have a number of talented youngsters on their books but the fringe players would be better off developing their game in a competitive environment like League One or League Two rather than playing under-23 football.

Here are two players Holloway should send out on loan in January.

Michael Petrasso

Michael Petrasso enjoyed a few first team games last season but he is yet to feature for Rangers this term and might look for yet another spell away from the club on loan.

The twice-capped Canadian international has previously been on loan at Oldham, Coventry, Leyton Orient and Notts County and he would not be short of suitors in the third tier.

The 21-year-old winger would be wise to take half a season developing his game to give him a shot at making the QPR side next year.

Joe Lumley

Joe Lumley

Joe Lumley is very highly rated at QPR but he is firmly third choice behind Alex Smithies and Matt Ingram.

Barring any injuries, Lumley is not likely to be getting any first team football this season and he'd be an excellent addition for a lower league side.

The 21-year-old has had previous loan spells at Bishop's Stortford, Accrington, Morecambe and Stevenage and another temporary stint would do him the world of good.
