Sheffield Wednesday have ridden somewhat of a small storm in their season and now find themselves firmly back in the promotion picture in the Championship table.

The Owls won once more at the weekend against Preston North End, and they sit nicely in sixth place in the table heading into Christmas.

They South Yorkshire club have certainly been on the up this last few seasons, with a playoff final defeat last season denying them promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since the turn of the millennium.

Manager Carlos Carvalhal has an abundance of attacking talent at his disposal, but could he be tempted to look in the Premier League for even more goals?

Here, we take a look at TWO Premier League strikers who could help fire Sheffield Wednesday to promotion...

David Nugent

Despite his Boro team mate Jordan Rhodes being the one in the headlines, pacey striker Nugent might fancy a move himself come January.

Nugent would be great for the Owls, adding pace and much needed experience to the attack which does in itself possess a wealth of talent as it is.

Adding someone like Nugent though would be ideal. He could run in behind, creating space for the likes of Fernando Forestieri, something which the Owls have definitely lacked thus far.

Chuba Akpom

Another striker who brings pace with him, Akpom is not really getting time on the field at Arsenal, and could well be open to a January move.

Akpom is a striker of talent, there is no doubt, he just needs to find a club where he gets a good run in the team really.

Should the Owls wish to make a move for Akpom, he would most certainly be looking for some guarantees around game time at Hillsborough, with a spell on the bench not likely to be of much benefit for the young Gunner.
