Derby County are undergoing somewhat of a resurgence under Steve McClaren in his second spell in charge of the Rams.

After a miserable start to the season, they have hit some form and find themselves now firmly in the hunt for a playoff place as we head into the busy Christmas fixture list.

Derby have invested heavily in the last few transfer windows, but after getting rid of both Paul Clement and then Nigel Pearson, they were forced to turn back to old gaffer McClaren in their pursuit of glory.

So far, it looks to be working.

Derby though will need more to maintain this good form and keep up the pressure, and to do this they will need to be hitting the back of the net regularly.

One place Derby could look to is the Premier League, where there are some strikers bound to be available in the transfer window.

Here are TWO Premier League strikers who could fire Derby into the playoffs...

Jay Rodriguez

The Southampton man has been immensely unlucky when it comes to injury, so a spell getting some first team football in the Championship might be just what he needs.

Rodriguez was red hot a few seasons ago, earning a call-up to the England squad under Ronald Koeman.

The pacey front man has bags of ability, and would definitely score goals in the second tier. It would be a statement of intent from McClaren and the Rams if they could manage to persuade Rodriguez to join.

Jerome Sinclair

Pacey Watford striker Sinclair was a man in demand last year, with his contract running down at Liverpool and his desire to move on from the Anfield club.

Things though have not worked out as yet for him at Vicarage Road. Troy Deeney, Isaac Success, and Odion Ighalo are all ahead of him, and Sinclair should be looking to find some first team football sooner rather than later.

Sinclair has pace to burn and is a natural finisher who would compliment the Championship well. He could potentially be an excellent capture.
