It's been a comfortable finish in the end for Cardiff City and, despite battling relegation at the start of the season, they could be eyeing the play-offs next campaign.

The defining factor in their season appears to have been the appointment of manager Neil Warnock, who took over from Paul Trollope in October.

He's been the key part in their sparkling form ever since, lifting them out of the relegation zone and into 13th with the hope of finishing in the top half come the end of the season.

Warnock WILL be staying on at the club next year, and will, according to the club, be given the necessary funds to put his own stamp on the squad in order to mount a challenge for his record eighth promotion.

Here are TWO players who Cardiff could be eyeing to steer themselves away from League One for good and back to the Premier League.....

Lloyd Isgrove

Preston North End failed to thrash out a deal for Lloyd Isgrove over the summer following his stunning form on loan at Barnsley in League One, and, weirdly, he has remained at Southampton.

Without a performance in the league and at 24 years of age, Isgrove clearly has no future with the Saints, and a move to the Championship with Cardiff would be an extremely good one.

His contract expires at the end of June and, whilst still pretty young and having shown his talent during Barnsley's promotion campaign, he would be a very shrewd signing for the Bluebirds.

Jason Steele

Cardiff's current number one goalkeeper is Allan McGregor who is on loan from Hull City, and whilst I'm sure they'd like to see him join permanently in the summer, they'll surely face competition.

With Blackburn looking likely for relegation, Cardiff should eye up their shot-stopper Jason Steele, who is still quite a young keeper, and has made the fourth highest number of saves this season with 130.
