Promotion-chasers Leeds United have been linked with a swoop for Rangers playmaker Josh Windass, according to the Daily Record.

The former Accrington Stanley man has six goals and five assists to his name from 20 Scottish Premier League appearances for the Glasgow giants this season and looks set to be the subject of a bid which could tempt him back down south of the border.

Leeds are looking for some spark and invention from someone following the suspension of Samuel Saiz which has kept him out of one match already and will keep him out of the next five.

However, the addition of attacking flair is not the only business Leeds need to get done before the window slams shut on February 1.

They have already moved to rectify one problem area with Laurens De Bock coming in to fill the left-back role that loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson - who has since returned to Manchester United - failed to make an impact in, but even more arrivals are needed.

We take a look at two players who could follow Windass through the door at Elland Road if he joins Thomas Christiansen's side in this transfer window.

Adam Forshaw

Forshaw is one player who has been linked with the Middlesbrough exit door since Tony Pulis took over as he finds his route to the first team blocked at the Riverside Stadium

The former Wigan man was one of Boro's most impressive performers during their time in the Premier League last season.

He works hard, can burst forward from midfield and can chip in with the odd goal. Reports suggest Leeds are in poll position to sign Forshaw for a fee in the region of £2.5m.

Leeds have a lot of midfield options and Forshaw would only add to the quality that Christiansen has at his disposal in the engine room.

Jordan Hugill

It is no secret that Leeds want a striker and they had been linked with a loan swoop for Derby County's Scottish international forward Chris Martin in recent days.

However, Derby do not want to strengthen a promotion rival by giving them someone who will boost their firepower so any potential deal for Martin, who spent last season on loan at Fulham, is dead in the water.

That makes Preston North End frontman Jordan Hugill the new front-runner to boost the striking quality on offer at Elland Road.

He works hard, he runs the channels and he has hit goals at this level for the past two seasons - and none of these things apply to Martin - so he would add a lot to the Leeds attack.
