Crystal Palace are looking to pursue the signature of Aston Villa forward Rudy Gestede, with out-of-favour midfielder Jordon Mutch looking likely to move the other way.

The 25-year old has made 28 appearances for the South London club ever since his arrival from Cardiff City at the end of the 2014/15 January transfer window.

The former Birmingham City midfielder would be a creditable asset for Steve Bruce's men, who sit 13th in the Championship after Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat to Norwich City.

With the January window approaching however, now is the time for Bruce to strengthen his squad, and bring in fresh, new talent that will ignite a promotion push towards the second half of the campaign.

With that being said then, here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies TWO players that could follow Jordon Mutch to Aston Villa in January...

Robbie Brady

The Villains are reportedly plotting a £10 million swoop for the Irishman, as reported a couple of days ago.

With the backing of Tony Xia, Bruce will be hoping that he will have the financial firepower to entice Robbie Brady to switch allegiance from Norwich City to Aston Villa ,with reports suggesting that Brady could be offered a £50,000-a-week contract.

The 24-year old has made 52 appearances for the Canaries netting 5 times, and has also received 31 caps for the Republic of Ireland national team.

James McCarthy

James McCarthyd

Another high profile player that the Villains are looking to lure is Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

The fellow Republic of Ireland international is nearing 100 appearances for the Toffees, since signing from Wigan Athletic in 2013.

Celtic, Crystal Palace, and Spurs are all among the clubs interested in securing McCarthy’s signature in January, however would be an incredible coup for Steve Bruce and Villa...

So...What do you think Villa fans? Should these two players as well as Mutch sign for Villa in January? Who else would you like to see join? Leave all of your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below!
