Nottingham Forest are on a dismal run of just one win in 11 Sky Bet Championship fixtures at the moment, with times looking desperate at the City Ground for the club which currently sits in a poor 20th place.

The Reds have lost countless points from winning positions during the campaign so far and French boss Philippe Montanier appears to be struggling to get to grips with life in the second tier of English football.

Perhaps the most alarming aspect of the Reds’ struggles so far during the campaign is the amount of goals the team are conceding – Forest have failed to keep a clean sheet since March.

With another season of disappointment seemingly likely at the moment, some members of the Forest squad could try and force moves away from the club.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke takes a look at two players who need to leave Nottingham Forest in order to fulfil their true potential.

Henri Lansbury

The Forest midfielder is out of contract in the summer and although talks are ongoing over an extension, the takeover of the club is holding up anything being penned at the moment.

Lansbury has been at the City Ground since arriving from Arsenal in 2012 and his performances have largely been good when he has been played in his most effective position.

When utilised in his best position the 26-year-old is a formidable force, but as Forest continue to languish down the foot of the league year after year, there may be a feeling from Lansbury that he might need to leave to actually fulfil his clear potential.

Ben Osborn

Osborn burst onto the scene at the City Ground in 2013, when caretaker boss and academy manager Gary Brazil handed him his first-team debut.

Since then Osborn has become a mainstay in the Nottingham Forest side and he continues to get better, despite playing more often than not as a left-winger these days.

The Derby-born 22-year-old is more accustomed to playing in the centre of midfield and with Osborn not particularly skilful or quick, he can often be found wanting when utilised in a wide berth.

Quite simply, Osborn isn’t a good enough central midfielder to hold down a regular place in the middle of the park and there could be a time where he calls it quits and searches for a move where he can fulfil his potential in his natural position.
