The question on Norwich City fans' lips is whether their Canaries squad is capable of reaching the Championship play-offs before time runs out.

Alex Neil's pressure has been lifted off his shoulders after his team put their abysmal performances behind them in their hunt to challenge clubs around them for the lucrative return of Premier League football.

They may have lost to relegation-threatened Burton Albion at the weekend, but that hasn't stopped Norwich from dreaming of play-offs.

However, they are now sitting with a very wide gap of seven points off the play-offs, despite being one place outside, and mid-table mediocrity could be looming.

The manager has a tough few months left in the season as he attempts  to get the Norfolk-based outfit into the top flight, and at the same time trying to save his job at Carrow Road.

So, the question remains; Is the squad capable of making up the difference to finish in the top six?

Probably not, but it is time to think ahead.

Here are 2 fringe players who need to be offloaded in the summer at Norwich City.

Paul Jones

Having signed for the Canaries on a permanent deal from League Two side Portsmouth last summer, Paul Jones is yet to make an impression at Carrow Road.

The 30-year-old was an odd purchase for Norwich with John Ruddy and Michael McGovern already at the club.

Jones has made just two appearances under Alex Neil this year.

His first came in a 6-1 demolition of Coventry City in the EFL Cup second round, and his most recent was back in October in a 5-0 thrashing over Barnet in the Checkatrade Trophy.

It's clear Paul Jones isn't needed at the club and he should be offloaded in the summer, although he'll still have one year left on his current deal.

Michael Turner

Turner has joined Fulham

The 33-year-old defender is currently out-of-favour and hasn't played a competitive match for Norwich since November.

Michael Turner hasn't often been in the match-day squad under Alex Neil having spent time on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham in the last two seasons.

The ex-Sunderland centre back has played on three occasions for the Canaries this campaign, two coming in the EFL Cup and one in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Neil clearly doesn't want him and if he isn't getting any game time, sitting in the stands every week, then he definitely needs to be offloaded in the summer.
