Millwall have had a pretty poor start to the new campaign despite starting off the year in unbeaten fashion.

The last three matches have all ended in defeat for Neil Harris’ men who have slipped to 16th in the division after their winless run.

After last season’s heroics, the suggestion was that the Lions would have hit the ground running this time around, but with results going against them and players out of form, the international break came at the right time.

The two-week hiatus from league action is a benefit to the Millwall manager to be able to work with his side and try to re-invigorate them with the visit of Leeds United rapidly approaching this weekend.

Some players have yet to hit form or make a case for their continued inclusion in the first-team.

With that said, here are two Millwall players that need to buck up their ideas, or faced being axed.

Jed Wallace was one of Millwall’s stand-out players last season but has so far failed to hit any kind of form.

His performances have been rushed and forced, and it is showing in the mistakes he is making and the way his overall game is suffering.

A failed deadline day move came in the opening week of the season, which may have affected his performances, but in six games the winger has shown an alarming dip in what made him so impressive last year.

Wallace needs to improve as soon as possible or face being benched for the forthcoming batch of fixtures.

The usually ever dependable defender has been off the boil in recent weeks, being at fault for both Swansea City’s goals in their last fixture, after being at fault also for Middlesbrough’s opening goal on the first day of the season.

His positioning and awareness have both been off the pace that is expected from the Antigua and Barbuda international.

With Conor McLaughlin waiting in the wings, the right-back needs to sort out his own form or risk being dropped for the aforementioned competition who will be chomping at the bit to get back into the side.
