These 2 Middlesbrough players never get much attention and deserve more credit

Tony Pulis has managed to guide Middlesbrough to the edge of the play-off race, an outcome that may not quite be where they expected to end the season.

A strong summer of investment suggested a real chance at a title shot, as did dismissing Garry Monk despite being on the fringes of the promotion race.

Pulis has arguably improved that position, but only by a couple of places in a tough Championship season.

There’s been much focus on the goal scoring exploits of Patrick Bamford, the early season form of Britt Assombalonga and the wing wizardry of Adama Traore.

It isn’t all about the forwards though, you don’t climb a tough division like the English second-tier without unsung heroes, a sturdy back line and some grit and determination.

Whilst the fast, free-flowing forwards get all of the praise, behind them is a group of players willing to run through brick walls to get their team where they need to be.

As with any Tony Pulis side, a strong rear guard is the foundation upon which the rest of the team is built and here at FLW, we’ve decided to highlight two player we don’t think get anywhere near enough attention for their performances.
