Leeds United are flying in the Sky Bet Championship, and look on course to secure a place in the end of season Play-Offs.

After a poor start to the season, where Garry Monk’s men lost four from their opening six league fixtures, doubts were raised over the club’s promotion credentials.

Since then Leeds have not looked back, and are set for their highest league position in over a decade.

Monk has given the club a real chance of securing Premier League status for the first time since 2004, with what has been a really impressive season.

The Whites face one of their most important fixtures on Saturday, a Yorkshire Derby with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls are also in the Championship Play-Off places, and both clubs are looking to secure their place in the top-six.

Whoever comes out on top of the Elland Road clash, will be almost certain of a place in the Play-Offs.

Here we look at TWO Leeds United players that will be vital if Monk’s side are to beat Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday…

Liam Bridcutt

Bridcutt has missed a large chunk of this season through injury, but returned to Monk’s side after Christmas, giving the club a welcome boost.

Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane were preferred to Bridcutt in central midfield during Saturday’s draw with Ipswich Town, the former made way for Leeds’ captain at half-time.

It is expected Monk will recall Bridcutt for Saturday’s clash, with his experience key in a highly important fixture.

Bridcutt will play in a holding midfield role in Monk’s favoured 4-2-3-1 formation, and will be set the task of marking Wednesday’s danger man Fernando Forestieri.

Forestieri is Wednesday’s top goal scorer this season and is likely to play in a free role behind Jordan Rhodes, where Bridcutt will be tasked with marking him.

If Bridcutt can stop Forestieri getting on the ball and running the game for the Owls, then Leeds will stand a really good chance of beating Carlos Carvalhal’s side.

Hadi Sacko

Sacko has started Leeds’ last two fixtures on the right side of Monk’s attack, preferred to Mo Barrow and Kemar Roofe.

The right-winger is a frustrating player to watch, as he can produce moments of magic, but also be wasteful in possession.

Carvalhal has changed his left-back regularly this season, with Daniel Pudil, Morgan Fox and Adam Reach all used.

With Wednesday without a regular defender on their left side, Sacko will be important for Monk on Saturday. If he can produce his top level of performance, he could prove to be the match winner for Leeds.
