Leeds United have surprised many this season, by challenging at the top end of the Sky Bet Championship table, and are looking to secure a Play-Off place in May.

Garry Monk has been set the task of guiding Leeds back to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.

The Whites have an exciting young squad, featuring academy products Charlie Taylor, Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips.

Along with the youngsters, Leeds have some seasoned professionals at the club, the summer signings of Rob Green and Pablo Hernandez standing out.

Monk has looked to keep a small squad together for most of this season, even selling Alex Mowatt, who had been used sparingly during the first-half of the campaign, to Barnsley.

Along with Mowatt, midfield duo, Luke Murphy and Toumani Diagouraga left the club, joining Burton Albion and Ipswich Town on-loan.

The former Swansea manager’s methods seem to be working and he has looked to have very few fringe players at the club, something he proved during the summer with the release of club-captain Sol Bamba.

Here we look at TWO more fringe players, Monk may look to move on during the summer…

Ross Turnbull

Turnbull joined the club in the summer of 2015, signed by ex-Whites’ boss Uwe Rosler, on a two-year deal.

The goalkeeper has made just one senior appearance for the club, which came in the League Cup against Doncaster last season.

Leeds had looked to move Turnbull on from the club during the January transfer window, with Rob Green and Marco Silvestri currently competing for a starting place in goal for the Whites.

Academy product Bailey Peacock-Farrell is also highly rated, and made his debut for the club last season.

Leeds currently have three goalkeepers ahead of Turnbull, and with his contract running down, it is expected Monk will release the player at the end of the season.

Matt Grimes

Grimes joined Leeds on a season-long loan from Premier League side Swansea City during the summer, but has failed to impress during his time at Elland Road.

The midfielder has made 12 appearances this season, and started just one game in the Championship, the opening day defeat to QPR.

The emergence of Phillips and Vieira this season, along with the additions of Eunan O’Kane and Liam Bridcutt have limited Grimes’ playing time.

Leeds will likely send Grimes back to Wales in the summer, and not put any effort into getting the midfielder back to Elland Road next season.
