Leeds United are having one of their best seasons in recent memory.

Former Swansea boss Garry Monk arrived at Elland Road at the summer and has shaken off his slow start by guiding Leeds into a promising position as we enter the final third of the season.

The Whites are 5th in the league and they have not abandoned all hope of automatic promotion, although it is more likely that they will have to try to win promotion via the play-offs.

Nevertheless, this is the most promising position that Leeds have been in since their relegation from the Premier League in 2003/04.

The sleeping giants are searching for promotion back to the top flight and there is a real sense of optimism among the fans as they believe that Monk could be the man to take them there.

Monk will be preparing for next season though and running the rule over some out-of-contract players.

Here are 2 that need to impress Monk before the end of the season.

Alfonso Pedraza

Leeds swooped to complete the deadline day signing of Alfonso Pedraza on loan from Villarreal.

The loan deal includes an option to buy and the Spanish winger will need to impress Monk to earn himself a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old has shown signs of promise so far but he will need to shine to convince Monk to shell out big cash on his permanent services.

Souleymane Doukara

Souleymane Doukara was out of favour at the start of the season and looked destined for the axe.

With his contract expiring in the summer, he has suddenly turned things around and started putting in some brilliant performances.

Doukara will need to maintain this high level of display in order to get his contract extended at Elland Road.
