Ipswich Town are having an extremely underwhelming season.

Fans have been apathetic towards the team's indifferent displays and Mick McCarthy's dull tactics.

There hasn't been much to get Ipswich fans excited about.

The scintillating displays and long range wonder strikes from loan star Tom Lawrence have lit up Portman Road but the Tractor Boys will be very pessimistic about his chances of staying beyond the end of the season.

At the moment, Ipswich are just floating along and going through the paces.

Realistically, they are not going to make up the 15 point difference and achieve a play-off spot but they are also very unlikely to plummet into the relegation zone as they are 11 points adrift.

So all that the players can play for now is their future at the club.

And there are a few who need to impress Mick McCarthy to convince him that they are worth keeping.

Here are 2 that fit that bill.

Jordan Spence

Jordan Spence penned a short term deal with Ipswich in January after signing as a free agent.

However, his performances so far have been hit and miss - some games he impresses and some he is below par.

The 26-year-old will be keen to earn a contract extension but he needs to add consistency to do that.

Steven Taylor

Another defender who joined on a free, Taylor made the switch from Portland Timbers to Ipswich in January.

The former Newcastle stalwart looked like a promising signing but he limped off injured against Aston Villa.

He will need to recover from that injury and bounce back as a stronger and better player to earn a contract extension with Ipswich.
