Ipswich are the longest serving Championship club and Mick McCarthy the longest serving Championship manager, which has become a frustration to the fans.

Especially this season, Ipswich seem blunt up front and a tad clueless at the back and it looks like it will be more mid-table mediocrity for the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich lost some key players in the summer with Jay Tabb and Daryl Murphy both leaving and they were poorly replaced by Leon Best.

Grant Ward has been a bright spot as has loan star Jonny Williams, but overall the creativity has been non-existent and fans are unhappy.

Ipswich sit in the bottom half with just five wins and have won twice since mid-September with only one coming at the previous home fortress of Portman Road, but the away win at Sheffield Wednesday may build confidence.

Still the lowly 14 goals requires some investment and to raise the funds for winter spending players must be sold.

Here are TWO fringe players that should be offloaded in the winter....

Giles Coke

Coke has been a very forgettable signing by the East Anglian side made in the summer of last season.

Coke has made just 9 appearances in his time with Jay Tabb's departure not enough to get him chances in the first team.

Coke doesn't have a single start this season and fans are confused why he hasn't been released yet, he should be to free up funds for transfers in January.

He should be offloaded as Ipswich need to invest in a spark in midfield.

Luke Varney

The epitome of all the awful attacking options Ipswich have is journeyman Luke Varney, who should move on from Portman Road.

The 34- year-old has 2 goals in 3 seasons at the club and has an awful strike rate at Championship level.

Ipswich are heavily reliant on Sears and McGoldrick for goals whilst the awful Varney and Leon Best are stealing a living surely.

He should be released or sold as Ipswich are in big need of a proper striker.
