Carlos Carvalhal narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season, losing 1-0 to Hull City at Wembley back in May.

However, the team will need to forget about that day as soon as they can, with the next season quickly approaching. They are one of the favourites for promotion, but know it will be tough with the quality of the division, rising seemingly season by season.

Led last season by the goals of Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper, the defensive solidity of Glenn Loovens at centre back and Kieren Westwood in goal, Wednesday have one of the best squads in the league, but will need additions so they can build on what they achieved last season.

Here, in the opinion of FLW's Ryan Evans, are TWO ex-Sheffield Wednesday players that would fit in at the club now....

Michail Antonio

Antonio has had a great season, and it culminated in him being tipped by many for a call up for England's Euro squad.

He made 26 appearances for West Ham in the Premier League, scoring eight and setting up four.

He scored three more in the cup competitions, and also two more for Nottingham Forest before his £7 million move to the Boleyn.

Even though West Ham as a whole had a great season, he shone and has attracted a lot of interest, even though he is just one year into a four year deal.

Ross Wallace did excellently for his side last season, as did Aiden McGeady, who returned to Everton after his loan spell. Marco Matias and Modou Sougou are probably not of the quality to lift the Owls to the Premier League, so it stands to reason that a winger should be the player that the club are targeting.

However, until the club can make it back to the big time, it is hard to see Antonio even considering a return to Hillsborough.

Daniel Pudil

The left-back, who was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from Watford last season, was solid for Carvalhal's team and was one quarter of a very good back line. However, he was shipped out to Sheffield last season as soon as they were promoted to the Premier League, so it appears that the club don't think the 30-year old is good enough for the Premier League.

However, Pudil is certainly good enough for the Championship, and with no left-back currently signed on in Owlerton, he would be a great addition. The player made 39 appearances out of a possible 49 last season, scoring two and setting up four in the process.

Sheffield Wednesday fans, would you take any of these players back? Do you think it's likely that they'll rejoin the club? Let us know below!
