Derby County are enjoying a red hot run in the Championship of late and with Steve McClaren now at the helm, the future is looking increasingly bright at the iPro Stadium.

After sacking Nigel Pearson, the club was in a real crisis but thanks to another win over Wigan Athletic this weekend, the Rams seem to be on the up and have now turned into one of the division's in-form teams.

McClaren has successfully instilled a sense of confidence in his players once again and right now, the squad are playing very well.

But with certain players playing well, it means that a number of individuals aren't going to be walking straight into the first team with ease.

And sadly for a number of young Rams currently on the books at the iPro, its going to be tough for them to break into the senior side.

So with that in mind, here's 2 Derby County wonderkids that could be destined to flop...

Josh Barnes

Young goalkeeper Josh Barnes has been given a one-year deal with the Rams after a successful two-year scholarship but you get the impression he's just not going to get enough time to impress the Derby County bosses.

He's a regular with the under-23 side but with highly rated 19-year-old Henrich Ravas earning rave reviews out on loan at Peterborough and England under-21 'keeper Jonathan Mitchell signing a new deal, Barnes might miss out on senior action.

Tom Mellors

Looking down the list of attacking talent in Derby's development and academy squads, it's safe to say that not everyone is going to make the cut.

And unfortunately for young Tom Mellors, he's one man we believe might not make it in years to come.

He was out for much of the 2015/16 season with injury but was still rewarded with a one-year deal for the current campaign.

But his spell on the sidelines unfortunately will work against him and he's one who might be let go sooner rather than later.
