It's been a tough season for Cardiff City but they're finally beginning to reap some rewards for the good progress they've made under Neil Warnock.

The experienced manager came in halfway through the season with results seriously going against the side but he's turned his side from relegation scrappers to a comfortable mid-table outfit, with the hope that they could even challenge for the play-offs if their form continues.

The Bluebirds have impressed in recent weeks and no team will relish the challenge of taking them down. Warnock looks set to stay at the club next year as a result of his hard work and going forward, he'll be figuring out who he wants to lead the team at the start of next season, when he gets a full year to choose his squad.

But with that in mind, not everyone will stay at the club and there are certainly some individuals that won't be staying after some poor performances this season.

So with that in mind, here's TWO Cardiff City fringe players that need to be offloaded from the team in the summer...

Rickie Lambert

Unfortunately for former England star Rickie Lambert, a move to Cardiff City this summer really hasn't worked out and he's certainly a player who might be moved on come May.

The former Liverpool man was signed to add some much-needed firepower to the Cardiff City frontline but it simply hasn't worked out and having a player who will collect his sort of wages on the books is always a risk for a team like the Bluebirds.

Cutting ties here would certainly be best for both parties going forward.

Adam Le Fondre

There will be real hope within the Cardiff ranks that next season could be the year that sees the club challenge for promotion once again and you can't see the likes of Adam Le Fondre really helping with that in the slightest.

The Football League journeyman is currently on-loan at Bolton Wanderers but with Kenneth Zahore finally beginning to show why he was brought to the club, Le Fondre will be surplus to requirements.

He'll be an asset elsewhere but for Cardiff, not good enough at this level anymore.
