Sat second in the Championship, Brighton fans will be dreaming of becoming a Premier League side and could make their lives a lot easier by securing an automatic promotion spot.

Three points behind leaders Newcastle, that's a very real possibility.

Brighton were nearly men last year, having conceded automatic promotion spot to Middlesbrough in a fierce battle for promotion and then losing in the play-offs to Sheffield Wednesday.

This year, they'll look to avoid that drama altogether.

Unfortunately though, failure to achieve promotion this term could lead the better players to be prized away by sides in the top-flight.

For Brighton, that's a real danger for two players in particular as they're certainly good enough to play in a higher division.

Here, we've identified TWO members of Brighton's squad that really ought to be playing to be playing in the Premier League.

Anthony Knockaert

The midfielder will certainly wonder what might had been if he stayed at Leicester after promotion in 2015, as two years later the Foxes were Premier League champions.

The year before he left, Knockaert made just nine appearances in the Premier League - so he's never quite had his chance.

This year, Knockaert has been in prolific form after scoring six goals in 15 Championship appearances.

His goalscoring form included a run of three consecutive matches finding the net back in August, he's certainly earned his chance in the top flight.

Lewis Dunk

The 24-year-old defender has risen through the youth ranks at Brighton to become a crucial part of the promotion-chasing side, now boasting 133 league appearances for the Seagulls.

Featuring in 15 of the club's 16 Championship games so far this term, Dunk is ready for the next step-up.

Born and raised in Brighton, the youngster would love for his chance to come with the club he's spent the length of his career with but a failed charge for promotion this term could lead to increased interest from the top-flight.

If that happens, he'll have a big decision to make.
