Some very good players have called Griffin Park their home in recent years, with Andre Gray, Clayton Donaldson, Will Grigg, Stuart Dallas and Moses Odubajo all leaving Brentford for pastures new.

They also have plenty of talent in their current team and the Bees, under the guidance of Dean Smith, are sat in 12th position in the Championship after 16 games.

Their unprecedented first season in the division, where they finished in fifth place and qualified for the play-offs, was backed up by a ninth place finish during a season in which they had three managers last year, and Dean Smith will be looking to fire the Bees back up towards the play-offs in this campaign.

Brentford have a mixed run up to Christmas, playing four teams above them and three teams below them up to and including the Boxing Day fixtures, but will feel confident of springing a few surprises on the way.

But a couple of their players may leave in January to get the most out of their career.

Here, in the opinion of FLW's Ryan Evans, are TWO Brentford players that should move on to fulfil their potential...

Alan Judge

Alan Judge

The 28-year-old was one of the best players in the league last season, scoring 14 and setting up 12 more before his campaign was cruelly ended in April due to a double fracture of his leg.

After getting his first cap just weeks before that injury, he was well on course to appear for the Republic of Ireland in the European Championships.

Even though he's likely to miss a significant portion of what remains of the season, he was still sought after in the summer transfer window, with Newcastle believed to have bid for him.

Quite whether he'll be the same player when he returns is unknown, and with his Brentford contract up for renewal he may want to consider moving to either a Championship team in the promotion race or a lower-half Premier League team to really try and better himself, and there is no doubt that plenty of clubs will be interested in his services.

Yoann Barbet

The Frenchman arrived at Griffin Park last summer, making 19 appearances in all competitions.

However Barbet has been unable to cement his position this season - primarily as a result of the arrival of John Egan from Gillingham and the form of Harlee Dean.

He's only made six appearances so far and they've all come at left-back.

The 23-year old is believed to possess the ability that would allow him to become a valuable asset for this club but has the aforementioned Egan and Dean as well as Andreas Bjelland as competition for the two centre back berths.

In light of this, it may be best served for him to move on to another second tier club where he would get first team football regularly.
