Brentford are having a good season under manager Dean Smith but last week's defeat to West London rivals Fulham have damaged their chances of climbing into the play-offs.

Overall though the ambition of chairman Matthew Benham is to secure the Bees as an established Championship side and they are well on their way to doing that.

Brentford had an excellent summer of business signing young Walsall stars Romaine Sawyers - who won League 1 Player of the Season last year - and Rico Henry, who has been touted as the next Ashley Cole.

Ryan Woods and Scott Hogan are also seen as two of the best players in the Championship whilst exciting goalkeeping prospect David Bentley looks an excellent replacement for David Button.

Brentford currently sit 10th after an excellent start but 3 defeats in their last 5 games meant the international break has come at a good time, allowing them to recover.

Brentford look strong with Hogan the focal point and will be even better when star man Alan Judge returns.

Here are 2 players they need to offload in the winter in order to free up wages to strengthen for the run in.

Alan McCormack

The 32-year-old is primarily there as cover for preferred right back Maxime Colin plus Nico Yennaris can also play there.

McCormack was crucial to Brentford's promotion from League 1 and them making the playoffs in the 2014/15 season but his time at the club looks to be ending with just 3 appearances all season.

He made just 20 appearances last season and interest from old club Southend may be welcomed in January.

Konstantin Kerschbaumer

The Austrian central midfielder was brought in last season after the injury to star player Josh McEachran and he proceeded to give a string of bland performances.

His forgettable stint has resulted in him making just 2 appearances all season with star player Ryan Woods partnered with McEachran which has proved effective so far.

Kerschbaumer will continue to find chances limited and should leave the Bees to get first team football.
